If you bought something and were asked for a review

The shop you bought from uses reviewbook to ask its buyers for a review after delivery. To send you that one email, reviewbook reads your order's Checkout Session from the shop's Stripe account: whether it was paid, which shop it belongs to, your email address and your name. The email address and name are used to send the request and are not stored by reviewbook.

If you write a review, reviewbook keeps six things: the shop, a one-way hash of your order's session id, your stars, your words, the name you typed (you may leave it blank), and the time you sent it. The hash cannot be turned back into your order number. Your words, your stars, the name you gave and the date are shown on the shop's pages, with the first eight characters of the hash as an order reference.

You are asked once per order. If you do not answer, nothing else happens and nothing is kept.

If you run a shop

For a paying shop, reviewbook keeps the shop's address and tag on its Stripe subscription. Payment is taken by Stripe, which holds the card details; reviewbook never sees them.

Cookies and tracking

None. The review form, the desk and the snippet that prints reviews on a shop's page set no cookie, store nothing in your browser, and load nothing from any other company. The snippet requests the shop's reviews without credentials, so the request carries no identity.

Who else handles the data

Vercel hosts the pages and functions and the review store. Stripe holds the orders and the subscriptions. Resend delivers the request email when a shop has a sender connected. Each processes only what its job needs.

How long it is kept, and how to remove it

A review is kept while the shop uses reviewbook. A shop can hide a review from its desk at any time, which takes it off every page. To have your review deleted from the store as well, write to the shop or to support@painted.app with the order reference shown beside it; deletion is done by hand, and we answer within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete what is held about you, and to object to its use. We never edit a review's words, so a correction means deleting the review, and you may then be asked again only if the shop sends a new request for a new order. Write to support@painted.app to use any of these rights.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it, and a shop that pays is told by email first.
